2018 Teacher Of The Year
The Lexington Soil and Water Conservation District will recognize two local teachers, one from grades K-6 and one from 7-12 grades for their accomplishments in conservation education. These accomplishments can be either inside or outside of the classroom. The teachers selected locally will be awarded $250 each and will be entered into the statewide SCACD (South Carolina Association of Conservation Districts) competition. 2018 Scholarship Application
The Lexington Soil and Water Conservation District will award two scholarships this year, one in the sum of $1,000 and the other in the sum of $500. Additional Scholarships may be available depending on funds availability and applications that meet the requirements. Scholarships presented at the Soil & Water Conservation Annual Banquet that will be held on Thursday, May 10, 2018 at T&S Farm in Leesville, South Carolina. The scholarship checks are jointly written to the recipient and the college or university attending. Subsequent funding, after the Freshman year through the Senior year, up to $100 for school materials will be available if:
- Scholarships recipients provide an oral presentation of up to ten minutes to the Lexington Soil and Water Conservation District Board on their progress within their Major after each school year.
- Has not changed their initial Major outside the agricultural or environmental fields.
- Has maintained at least a 2.5 GPA
The scholarships are presented to high school seniors residing in Lexington County who will be attending a South Carolina college, university, or technical college. The applicants must be planning a major in an agricultural or environmental related field such as: vocational agriculture education, agriculture economics or engineering, agronomy, natural resources, biology, forestry, horticulture, etc. To apply, download the application.
